On 4-6 September 2018, the 28th Economic Forum was held in Krynica-Zdrój. Around 4 thousand participants from all over the world took part in the event "A Europe of common values or Europe of common interests?".

The purpose of the Forum was to exchange views on the current economic, political and social situation in the world among heads of government, ministers and parliamentarians, presidents of the largest companies, experts, local and regional governments, representatives of the world of science, culture and the media, etc.

On 5 September 2018, participants of the Forum had the opportunity to take part in the discussion panel "Cultural heritage as a factor in the development of the Polish-Russian borderland", organised by the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Poland-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020. The panel was moderated by Mr Krzysztof Żęgota, Adjunct at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. Among the guests of the panel there were experts from the Polish and Russian sides: Mr Leszek Buller, Director of the Center of European Projects; Mr Miron Sycz, Deputy Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Region; Mr Denis Moskalenko, Head of the Regional Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Mr Valentyn Korneevets, Director of the Institute of Recreation, Tourism and Physical Culture at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, and Mr Andrey Yartsev, Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. The panel started with a presentation of the summary of the completed call for proposals in the Poland-Russia Programme 2014-2020 provided by Ms Katarzyna Bartnik, Head of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Poland-Russia Programme. The main topic of the discussion panel was the impact of cultural heritage and tourism on boosting development of the Polish-Russian borderland.

During the event, the employees of the Center of European Projects provided the participants with information on the cross-border cooperation programmes, including the Poland-Russia Programme 2014-2020, at a promotional stand in the New Spa House Pavillon.
