The first grant contract for co-financing of a regular project in the Thematic Objective 'Environment' was signed within the Poland-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020.

Project 'Protection of natural heritage in a cross-border area through the improvement and development of water- sewage infrastructure in Sovetsk (Kaliningrad District) and Nowe Miasto Lubawskie Municipality' will be implemented by Nowe Miasto Lubawskie Municipality and Administration of the Sovetsk City District.

The main activities planned within the project on the Polish side of the border include the construction of a sewage system and a sewage treatment plant in Jamielnik. On the Russian side, the following activities are planned: construction of a sanitary sewage system in Sovietsk, construction of a sewage pumping station, and a sewage station as well as modernisation of a sewage pumping station.

The total value of the project is 2 288 559.40 EUR, whereas the Programme co-financing is equal to 2 059 703.46 EUR.
