Olsztynek-Kaliningrad – from the common history to future partnership 2020-08-31, Category: Projects news

Project is carried out by the municipal autonomus cultural institution “The Kaliningrad Zoo” and the Folk Architecture Museum – Ethnographic Park in Olsztynek.

As part of the project, another exhibition space will be created in the museum in Olsztynek –  warehouse with an exhibition part that will be open to the public. Visitors will be able to see how the collections are stored. The warehouse building will be also interesting. It would be a copy of the stable from Tolkiny farm. During the opening ceremony, a film presenting the construction works will be shown.

It is also planned to create an educational and historical path leading to Lithuanian objects in the museum. There will be also an architectural designs of non-existent Lithuanian buildings: a stable, a barn, a cellar from Pempen and a fisherman's cottage from Gilge. Moreover, a replica of the manor house from the area of ​​former Prussia will be created. This is the first step to build them on the premises of the museum.

The project contains a revitalisation of a part of the Kaliningrad Zoo area including landscaping, major repairs and construction of the fence. A mobile application will be also created.

The total value of the project is 1 934 283.46 EUR, whereas the amount of co-financing for the project is equal to 1 740 855.11 EUR.
